looking to sell your collection?
If you just want to send a quick query to see if we are likely to be interested, you do not need to waste time creating a list. Just spread some of your collection out and take 1-5 photos (no more than that please). If your collection is graphic novels a few photos of your bookshelf, close enough that we can see the spines, will do. Send to sales@luckytargetcomics.com and we will reply letting you know whether it is worth you filling the Selling Form in.
If you are more confident about what you have just go ahead and fill the form in and then email your photos to us. You will get a quick reply. You can use a different format to send us the information, including email or Telegram, but we do still need full info to make a decision. We often get selling queries from people who assume they can just have a phone chat or visit and get us to value their items and instantly give them cash. We don’t work that way. You are the seller and you are asking us to buy from you. Tell us exactly what you have and exactly what you want and we will decide if we want to buy and if we need to negotiate with you on price. If we don’t think your offer works than we will give you an honest, friendly answer as to why and, if we can, a suggestion of other places to sell

What kind of comics?
We are always interested in real US comics (cents or pence copies) from Golden to Bronze Age (1940s-1980s) and potentially interested in Copper to Modern Age (1980 to now). Condition is very important and photos will help us assess that
We are not interested in 2000AD, UK kids comics, or Panini Reprints (if you bought your comics from a newsagent in the last 30 years and they have a UK price on the cover they are not collectible enough for us). We will sometimes accept older UK magazine sized comics but usually if they are a proportion of a bigger collection that contains more US content. Not sure what we mean or what you have? Just send a couple of photos and we’ll let you know
We definitely want Graphic Novels/Collected Editions/TPBs. We are looking for original editions that appear Like New or as close to that as possible. We want diverse collections with a mix of DC, Marvel, Other Publishers, classic stories, some hardcovers, interesting indies.
We are less interested in very homogenous GN collections (e.g. all high print run Ultimates and X-Men). We will pay less for UK editions and books that have reading wear. We do not buy UK repro graphic novels (if you bought them from a newsagent and they are part of an eaglemoss or similar collection we can’t use them)
We always want US Bronze to Copper Age Magazines and Graphic Novels, Treasuries, interesting oversized items, fanzines etc. Why? Not because they are necessarily high value. They actually cost more to package and ship, but they are very cool and we love that stuff
We always want Blank Cover Variants. Why? We need to keep that section of the store well stocked because we tend to sell to artists who want to choose from a wide selection in one place and buy several at one time. They need to be NM or very close to and preferably Marvel, DC or at least featuring popular characters. Blanks of a limited series from Image or similar are not gonna sell
What about other stuff such as original art, figures, slabbed comics, signed books? Sure! Let us know what you have
Prices?
Comics is a low turnover industry and nothing changes that. The only thing that makes a low turnover, niche market industry viable for a small sustainable income is high profit margins. Most collections we have bought over the years have involved us paying around 10-20p per comic. E.g: If we buy a collection of 5000 comics it might have one or two comics in there that we sell for £100 each but the majority might only sell for around £2 each and a proportion might have to go in cheap bundles or be given away as free gifts. The process of selling everything in that collection might take 15 years, 1000s of hours work and involve various expenses and overheads. LTC has been going for nearly 20 years, some high value comics have come through but, most of those years have involved a struggle to pay rent and bills. No nice holidays, champagne lunches or fancy cars. There are some comic dealers out there who are very comfortable. Most of them came from a certain amount of wealth and privilege and made their money by becoming landlords. Nothing like that is happening here
Comics: 10p per comic is a standard offer. For mid grade modern collections that might go down to 5p per comic. For Golden to Silver Age collections YES, of course it needs to be much higher and Consignment might be more suitable than a cash offer. Maybe you want to group your collection into sections and say that one section are all £1, one all 50p, the rest all 10p and you want to factor in some special items and apply £10 for those and the total comes to £___. Go for it. Give us the numbers. Tell us what you have and what you want. Be realistic. If the comics you bought had high print runs, or you never took the price stickers off, they might not be worth much or easy to sell
Graphic Novels: £1-2.50 per book is realistic. The last collection we bought was £1.50 per book and in excellent condition. Is it possible to ask a bit more because some books are signed or very scarce? Maybe. Give us the info
We will pay more per comic for Blank Cover Variants. If they are NM and mainstream then £2 per unit will probably work. Bronze age Mags around 50p to £1.50 may be possible. It all depends on what you have and what you feel you need
how to trade?
We are based in Fife, Scotland. We do not have a bricks and mortar store. We do not currently have transport to pick up collections. Can you bring your collection to our residential address if we agree a trade? If not, then we would need to walk you through how to package them correctly and we will add shipping costs to how much we pay. However, we don’t send private sellers money and just hope we get the goods and that they are in the condition we expect. We may need to put some extra measures in place to make sure both parties are safe and no one gets any nasty surprises
valuation
Do you have a high value comic collection in your possession? Are you a business that has acquired a consignment of bulk comics? We are experienced, knowledgeable comic dealers. We can grade raw* comic books accurately. We can value collections for insurance purposes or help prep them for any type of reselling. We can create detailed spreadsheets for managing your collection or stock. Our current rates: £15 per hour plus expenses
*we do not offer an encapsulation service but we can submit to CGC if you want to slab
consignment
We will sell collections or selected comics/related items on a consignment basis. This tends to work for people who have a large, high value collection or strong key issues for which consignment selling is likely to be more lucrative than taking a bulk lump sum. Ideally a Golden to Silver Age collection is likely to be Consignment worthy. If you aren’t sure send us a query and a 1-5 photos. Current rates: we take 25% of the net sale price after all selling and shipping costs. Email us on sales@luckytargetcomics.com and we will reply with some questions to establish what you need from us.
